Embracing 'The Zero Point'
Enjoy the DOUBBLE BILL of two performances: Spiderweb and The Lost Breath. Discover the magic of two unique performances that will take you on a journey of emotion and imagination.
While creating the performance ‘Spiderweb’, the Belgian choreographer Maya Sapera worked closely together with Kesha Raithatha, an amazing dancer from the United Kingdom who tours the world.
Spiderweb - Embracing ‘The Zero Point’
Be welcome to enjoy a performance in which dance, music & video-art become ONE!
Courious to see a glimpse of Spiderweb? See the video below!
This performance is a story of creation inspired by the ancient Indian symbol of interconnection, the spiderweb.
The interdependency of everything in the world is translated in Spiderweb through sound, image and movement.
Did you ever wonder how the body sounds? Or how music looks? The artists will be dancing between two cultures and weaving together different forms of art.
Practical Information
You are most welcome on Tuesday February 20, 2024. Spiderweb will take place in Ghent at De Centrale (Kraankindersstraat 2, 9000 Gent) at 8pm.
The Artists
The artists take you on a journey of creativity, showing the interconnectivity between different forms of art. They cross the conventional boundries of art with curiousity to find out how dance, music and video-art can interact.
Maya Sapera treats her body as a source of dance and communication. Exploring the balance between tradition and innovation, she uses the language of dance to cross cultural boundries.
Robbe Kieckens combines his rich cultural heritage with the constant search of new sounds and rhythms. He plays with the interactions between music and dance using cultural references.
Niko Himschoot is formed in video-art, camerawork, projection and dramaturgy. By experimenting with the art of visualization, he illustrates how video-art interacts with dance and music as an equal force.
Leen Minten is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer who likes to immerse herself in Indian as well as other spheres. In Spiderweb she once again pushes her boundaries with her tabla-instrument.

The Lost Breath
“Breathing is the first song of the ancestors.”
Besides the premiere of Spiderweb, another performance will take place in which Kesha Raithatha invites you to her world of movement and dance.
The universe wants to dance ancient tales and have us transform narratives into celebration. Tonight’s assemblage is a work in progress for a larger piece, the beginnings of a ritualistic and cyclic ceremony honouring voices emanating from underground.
Stories of female ancestors are catalysed through a dancer’s body and spirit, ‘The Lost Breath’ is constructed from Kesha’s movement vocabulary combined with her journal entries charting experiences with prayer trances and journeys through the Anismist tradition.
